From October 1996 to December 2010, the web site Zona: The Girdle Zone provided a venue for serious and tasteful discussion of the social and erotic significance of a much-maligned garment.

The purposes of the site were three-fold:

• To provide a resource for students of fashion and costume;

• To send a message-- You are not alone-- to men fascinated by these garments;

• To convey the same message to the women in these mens' lives, and to help them understand their partners.

Reader response-- several thousand e-mails of support and encouragement-- suggested that these goals were at least partly achieved, but the time has come to close this book.

Creating and maintaining this web site was a rewarding and enjoyable experience, and it brought this writer many new friends. I owe a great debt of gratitude to all who contributed articles and images, and to all who took the time to write and share their thoughts, their memories, and their dreams.
