The Zona Gallery: Room 106

Colors!

Not long ago, a Zona reader wrote in to ask, "Were girdles ever made in colors besides white, black, and beige?

Of course they were! Take a look at the Three Girdled Women image at the top of this and many other Zona pages. Dating back to the late Forties, the image shows white, blue, and pink girdles. It's true, though, that white was by far the most common color through the 1950's, and today you'd be hard-pressed to find choices beyond white, black, and beige. But back in the 1960's, color choices were far more extensive, as the images below demonstrate.

By the way, sharp-eyed visitors will notice that some of these images are also displayed elsewhere in the Gallery. It's okay- you can do that in a virtual museum!
