Chapter III: How To Grow Gracefully (Years 20-40)Figuratively speaking this period is the most complex, even though you have attained most of your full growth. You have left the teen years at the beginning and as you near the end of it you are going into menopause. During this span the female body undergoes many changes. There is a variance with childbirth, illness and possible surgery. In the over 30 years I've been a corsetiere, I've kept a complete record on every customer I've fitted (just as your physician does) and I call assure you that no matter what change your body will undergo, it will be better off externally for certain, and possibly internally also, for having worn a well-fitted bra aud girdle. Skiing, swimming, bowling golfing and tennis have been relinquished in favor of charity work, P.T.A., and perhaps a job to augment one's income. Week-ends are for getting in order the home that was neglected the other five days. Doesn't it make good sense then to resort to the means that will prevent your body from spreading and getting over-tired? What could possibly be wrong with wearing a well-fitted set of garments all day? What is right is that you'll have good posture, look well in what you wear, and never, never, never, have that ugly midriff roll. In the early twenties, it is wise to begin wearing the well constructed all cotton or all lace, longline bra with elastic at the back and waistband only, for every day wear. Straps should be all, or most all, fabric too. You will find the bra more comfortable because it stays put; your bustline will be prettier because your shoulders will be erect; and you'll have a smooth midriff. If you are the athletic type, and fortunate enough to have the time for your favorite sport; on occasion, then the waistline, all stretch pull-on panty or girdle with a short bra permits strenuous activity. Once you have learned to live with the longline bra, you will find it easier to accept the high waist girdle as its mate. It would be wise to become accustomed to a covered midriff by the time you are 30. The well contour fitted, mostly fabric, proper length girdle helps correct and improve the out-of-proportioned figure. The figure created while wearing the garment is astonishing. As long as the girdle is fitted to the individual's measurements, and necessary alterations properly made (a dressmaker, or seamstress will do) the garment need not be expensive. One girdle will last about a year when worn daily and properly laundered and cared for when needing repairs. Add to this girdle a variety of styles of bras including strap-less, in the longline (black or white ) and you've got the proper outfit for every type of clothing. Should you have a proportioned figure through a size 38, and have enough need for the use of an all-in-one full length strapless, it is an enjoyable change, when accurately fitted. For those who need some support when skiing, bowling, playing tennis or golfing; the over-the-waist all stretch panty or girdle, will aid the back much more than the waistline. Always wear the three-quarter or longline bra with the over-the-waist model. Continue to Chapter IV: How To Grow Gracefully (After 40) Page designed and maintained by Last updated May 29, 1997
